Yellowstone season 6

Dutton family has plenty under wraps and is returning in November 2024 to finish what they started.

Yellowstone season 6 is a big question mark for the Dutton family fans. Well, how do I start? Do I give the good news first or the bad news?

Let’s start with the bad one.

Yellowstone season 5 is the final season, which started in November 2022, and the eighth episode came out on 1 January 2023.

But it didn’t end there. There is Yellowstone season 5, part 2.

It is expected to be released in November 2024 with another set of six episodes to finish the story of the Dutton clan. The cast and crew are expected to begin shooting in spring 2024 for the series to release its last six episodes by November.

Now, the good news.

Season five undoubtedly will end, but then many spinoffs will carry with the Yellowstone legacy.

Since Sheridan has his hands on many projects, let’s look at each and how they are linked to the series and compensate for Yellowstone season 6.

Many Yellowstone Spinoffs, Sequels, and Prequels Explained

1883

1883 Yellowstone season 6

This limited series tells the story of John Dutton’s grandfather. James Dutton is a Civil War veteran struggling to get back home.

Tim McGraw takes the role of James Dutton, and his real-life wife Faith Hill is Margaret Dutton. Their chemistry on the screen is stellar. The show’s narrator, Isabel May, is James Dutton’s daughter, Elsa Dutton.

The show is a prequel to Yellowstone and has a story of its own. You don’t need to watch the series Yellowstone to watch 1883. The limited series had 10 episodes and ended in February 2022.

Cast of 1883

  • Tim McGraw as James Dutton
  • Sam Elliot as Shea Brennan
  • Faith Hill as Margaret Dutton
  • Isabel May as Elsa Dutton
  • LaMonica Garrett as Thomas
  • Audie Rick as John Dutton Sr.
  • Marc Rissman as Josef
  • James Landry Herbert as Wade

1923

1923 Yellowstone season 6

The prequel of Yellowstone and sequel to 1883 and 1923 will take back to the times when it all started. This series will have some of the old characters, such as Jimmy, Rip, Walker, and Teter. Isabel May narrates the story of this series, too.

1923 came out in December 2022 on Paramount+. Taylor Sheridan created the series with actors like Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren.

The story takes us back to when Cara and Jacob lived through the Great Depression in Montana. It highlights all the struggles from drought and prohibition, too.

The series was received very well, and the cast and crew will soon be back on set to shoot season 2 of 1923. So plenty of replacements for Yellowstone season 6, I guess…

Cast of 1923

  • Helen Mirren as Cara Dutton
  • Harrison Ford as Jacob Dutton
  • Brandon Sklenar as Spencer Dutton
  • Isabel May as Elsa Dutton
  • Julia Schlaepfer s Alexandra
  • Jerome Flynn as Banner Creigton
  • Darren Mann as Jack Dutton
  • Brian Geraghty as Zane Davis
  • Amina Nieves as Teonna Rainwater
  • Mayely Shelton as Emma Dutton

Yellowstone Season 6

Yellowstone season 6

We will call it Yellowstone season 6 until the name is revealed.

The story will progress from the point where it ends in November 2024. This instalment of the series will have new actors and some old ones.

But from the previews, story, and gossip mills, it looks like Yellowstone season 6 will be bigger and better.

Cast of Yellowstone Season 6

Call it Yellowstone season 6 or another spinoff with no name announced yet; the series is expected to have Matthew McConaughey in it. Kevin Costner cannot continue with the franchise due to his upcoming project.

Other cast members include Wes Bentely, Cole Hauser, Luke Grimes, Kelly Reilly, and Kelsey Asbille.

Lawmen: Bass Reeves

6666

Yellowstone season 6

Yet another spinoff, another feather in Taylor Sheridan’s cap: 6666. The symbol is known to all Yellowstone fans as Ranch 6666, where the best breed of horses are raised and the best cowboys emerge.

There will be a separate spinoff of the series, and it is expected to be released sometime in early or mid-2024 (given that SAG-AFTRA and WGA have ended). The series is slated to release on Paramount+.

Nothing official has been announced, but we speculate Kathryn Kelly and Jefferson White are part of the main cast.

Will Kevin Costner Be Part of Season 5, Part 2?

Kevin Costner has a busy year ahead. With his new film coming out, Horizon, and creator of the series Taylor Sheridan is busy with his series Lawmen: Bass Reeves and Special Ops: Lioness.

The conflict of dates, Costner finalizing his divorce, and SAG-AFTRA added to the problems that resulted in Costner’s character ending in season 5, part 2. However, Kevin Costner will have a major say in how his character ends in the series. For that, let’s wait until November 2024.

Is There a Season 6 of Yellowstone?

Call it a spinoff or season 6. I don’t care since the sequel has Matthew McConaughey in it.

Yes, that’s right. Paramount has confirmed the sequel starring the golden boy McConaughey. Paramount is all ears to the artists who are in favour of continuing the storyline; hence, we may see some of our favourites in the season 6/sequel.

Cory Asbury has also hinted he will be in Montana for a year to shoot the sequel. He is rumoured to be Kacey Dutton’s lost brother. But he would be in the prequel 1923, the other spinoff, which is all about the history of the Dutton family.

While you are waiting for season 5, part 2, you can catch up on the Shonda Rhimes series How to Get Away With Murder.
